But hopefully the following will give a little more insight into how we actually operate day to day - and go some way towards answering the question: “Why Use Us?”
For Permanent Recruitment (Or: “Why should I bother going to the expense of using a recruitment agency when I could just advertise?”)
For Temporary Recruitment (Or: “Why should I risk an untested stranger when my own staff can cover for absence and holidays, for free?”
Permanent Vacancies: Absolutely no reason why you should not advertise directly, sifting the responses and doing all the interviewing yourself. There is no reason to think that your interviewing skills and character assessment will not find you the perfect new member of staff. In the event that it does not work out, you have only lost the cost of the advert and your time.
Of course, you might think, we are biased. Possibly. But we believe the sensible option is to try an agency first. Listen to the logic.....
Hire your new employee directly and if it does not work out, you don't get a free replacement and you don't get any refund options. The time you spent is a write-off. You probably don't even want to think about starting the whole process all over again. Meantime, your business could be suffering.
You are very good at what you do. Recruitment is what we do.
Here is how it works...... We maintain a database of up to 1000 Permanent and Temporary staff at any one time by constant advertising on main media sites and by year-round on-street and on-line advertising as well as in main directories such as Yellow Pages. Many of our candidates are recommended to come to us by their friends and colleagues.
Of the thousands who respond to our adverts for specific jobs, each is given an immediate response. The vast majority are invited to register with us. All are met by a senior Consultant and given an in-depth interview covering career history, skill sets and, just as importantly, attitude, personality and likely team fit. All are given a basic skills test. All Temps are reference-checked.
Give us your Permanent vacancy and we will advertise it as necessary, at no cost to you and without identifying you or your company. We will screen all who respond, interview the best and put forward a shortlist to you to choose your own shortlist for personal interview. If you like, we can administer free tailored tests in any of the main PC packages and give you the results. We can also give free training in specific skills at this stage or later to assure you that the right person also has the level of ability you need.
At this stage it is just possible that you do not click with any of your interviewees. Ask us to cast the net again. At some stage we hope that you and one particular candidate make the perfect match. You then make an offer of employment, subject to references, which most clients like to take up themselves for a permanent position but which we can do for you if you prefer.
The offer is accepted and more often than not the candidate identified by a combination of our service and your final selection will be with you for a significant time and make a significant contribution to your business.
OK, even in the best of all possible worlds, life happens. Personalities don't click when it comes to the crunch.... or whatever... and your dream new employee and you part company.
The good news is that in the rare event that a placement leaves within 12 weeks of starting*, you are entitled to completely free replacement and if we are unable to do supply a suitable replacement, you are entitled to between ten and 100 per cent of your fee back, depending on how long the original applicant was with you (*all of this subject, as they say, to conditions in our Terms of Business, which we are happy to explain as required.)
Ah, but agencies are so expensive. Not so. Our services cost you absolutely nothing if we fail to fill your vacancy. Discounts could be available depending upon factors like whether we may become your regular or exclusive supplier.
It is much more important to us to build long-term relationships with our clients, built upon mutual trust, than to make a quick killing.
And to state the obvious..... if we are successful, you have saved the cost of advertising as well as your valuable time. Our fee is an agreed percentage of first year's annual salary, as explained in our terms of business.
Temporary Vacancies: In some offices, existing staff can indeed cover for the missing or departed. But it is often a false economy to over-stretch good and loyal employees when a Temp can bring fill the gap and ease the pressure.
You get an efficient, tested, reference-checked temporary member of staff immediately or when you want them and usually for as long as you want them to cover for absence, resignation or hopefully, increased demand. In some cases, Temps who prove themselves during an assignment go on to become permanent members of staff.
But the initial stage is to agree in advance the skill-set you require in a Temporary worker and we match that with hundereds of available candidates on our database. We run the assignment by them then come back to you with details. For longer assignments you may want CVs and even to interview a shortlist.
Either way, you will agree an hourly charge before the assignment starts - a rate which includes the Temp’s hourly pay, Employer’s National Insurance, PAYE, statutory Holiday Pay and all our admin and postage costs.
Should a Temp pull out of an assignment through sickness or whatever, a replacement is slotted in straight away. You of course have the same freedom to end an assignment if circumstances change - because you are not contracted to pay for a service you no longer require.
We could go on. But essentially, our aim is to prove ourselves to you with each and every placement, whether Temporary or Permanent, and to give you the confidence essential to any worthwhile relationship between client and supplier.
